The dog as cultural asset

The dog is one of the most loved pets in the world. It has performed the job of companion, protector, and foremost has been the loyal friend of man for thousands of years. Planned selection has resulted in over 400 breeds, which differ not only in appearance but also in character, and the ability to comply perfectly with the varied requirements demanded of them.

Dog in danger

Although the dog is highly regarded, it has been for some decades and the exaggerations, by man, of breed specific characteristics. This is partly caused by false breeding practices, but is also partly influenced by factors over which the breeder alone has no control.

Help through specialists is necessary

The breeder requires the support and help ofspecialists and experts in order to overcome the problem. It is no longer possible to do this alone. The breeder orientated education and international specialised information for the veterinarian as well as planned practical research should help to solve the problem.

Buyers need help in the selection of the dog

The buyer normally looks for a particular breed, or cross-breed, and hopes to find a puppy that is healthy with an acceptable behaviour, with whom he can share the next ten to fifteen years of his life. It is very difficult to make the the choice and the evaluation of the breed quality is very demanding.

Purpose of the foundation

The foundation supports and promotes the comprehensive application anf futher development of measures for the wll being of dog both nationally and internationally. It specifically promotes animal protetion, with regard to breeding, maintenance, care and nourishment, based on ethical, scientific and legal principles.
